September 7, 2008: Challenge Classics label has released a new album with the complete chamber music of the Dutch composer Agnes Jama (1911-1993). Her music is rarely performed nowadays and this is undeserved. Notwithstanding the evident influences of i.e. Débussy, Bartók and Messiaen, her work shows a very personal style with a vital sense of rhythm and spicy harmonies. That makes her music worth listening to.
Besides Marcel the following musicians also can be heard on this CD: Soesja Citroen (voice, daughter of the composer), Irene Maessen (soprano), Helena Rasker (mezzo-soprano), Ursula Schoch (violin), Ivar Berix (clarinet) en Daniël Esser (violoncello).

Besides Marcel the following musicians can be heard on the album: Irene Maessen (soprano), Marcel Beekman (tenor), Eleonore Pameijer (flute), Ursula Schoch (violin) and Marcel's pianocolleagues Marja Bon and Frans van Ruth.
