Program around the new book by Dutch writer K.Schippers (Voor jou, For you). For the dutch national Poetry Week 2014, (January 30 through February 5) Schippers has written a new collection of poems.
The music in this program is not meant as an illustration of the text but expresses a way of thinking, observing and working in which traditional boundaries between styles are being broken down. Dutch composer Otto Ketting mixed musical genres just as easily as Schippers does with literary styles. Part of the 840 repeats will sound which Erik Satie wants the pianist to play in his 'Vexations'. Thanks to Schippers open mind and broad taste we will also hear music by Anton Webern (deconstruction in music just as Schippers likes to deconstruct language), Robert Nasveld (a deconstructed blues) and Arnold Schoenberg. And also Bill Evans will pass by, the favourite jazzpianist of Dutch writer Henk Bernlef, Schippers' best friend who passed away recently
