Wed 15 Jan Terneuzen, Porgy & Bess 8:00 PM K.Schippers - speaker and Marcel Worms - pianoProgram around the new book by Dutch writer K.Schippers (Voor jou, For you). For the dutch national Poetry Week 2014, (January 30 through February 5) Schippers will write ta new collection of poems.The music in this program is not meant as an illustration of the text but expresses a way of thinking, observing and working in which traditional boundaries between styles are being broken down. Dutch composer Otto Ketting mixed musical genres just as easily as Schippers does with literary styles. Part of the 840 repeats will sound which Erik Satie wants the pianist to play in his 'Vexations'. Thanks to Schippers open mind and broad taste we will also hear music by Anton Webern (deconstruction in music just as Schippers likes to deconstruct language), Robert Nasveld (a deconstructed blues) and Arnold Schoenberg. Marcel Worms was captivated by classical composers who were influenced by the new musical styles like American jazz and Argentinean tango. While writing her book 'Ons kamp' Marja Vuijsje enjoyed listening to the swing music from New York and Berlin from her fathers' youth.With the music by Viktor Ullmann, Dick Kattenburg, Leo Smit, George Gershwin, Erwin Schulhoff, Alexandre Tansman and Szymon Laks, played by Marcel Worms, as a point of departure, Marja Vuijsje will talk about the century of her father that she described in her much praised book 'Ons kamp' (Our Camp).

For the dutch national Poetry Week 2014, (January 30 through February 5) Schippers has written a new collection of poems.The music in this program is not meant as an illustration of the text but expresses a way of thinking, observing and working in which traditional boundaries between styles are being broken down. Dutch composer Otto Ketting mixed musical genres just as easily as Schippers does with literary styles. Part of the 840 repeats will sound which Erik Satie wants the pianist to play in his 'Vexations'.
